Roswell is a city located in northern Fulton County; it is an affluent suburb of northern Atlanta, Georgia. According to the US Census Bureau's 2008 estimate, the population is 87,657. It is the seventh-largest city in Georgia. A branch of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, a component of the National Park System, is located in Roswell at Vickery Creek. Roswell is now one of the largest cities in the state; its population has increased most steadily in the last 15 years.

Alpharetta is located just 14 miles north of the city of Atlanta’s business district and only 28 miles north of Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. A suburban community comprised of approximately 44,000 people based on 2006 census data, Alpharetta is primarily located in North Fulton County but some parts of Forsyth County to the north claim an Alpharetta zip code.

Alpharetta experienced regular growth throughout the 1980s and early 1990s then hit a population explosion in the late 1990s that has carried over in the 2000’s that does not look to end any time soon. Residents of Alpharetta love the proximity to Roswell, Dunwoody, Buckhead and Atlanta for business and entertainment but also enjoy the short drive north to Lake Lanier as well as the North Georgia Mountains. GA 400 is the primary highway running through Alpharetta and is used quite heavily in combination with Alpharetta Highway also called Highway 9.
